There's a Million things I haven't Done

Hi you,

Remember last Monday I wrote about Being Busy and learning to say no?

<laughs>

Without a bunch of boring details I suddenly realized around 3pm on last Friday that I should take administrative responsibility for two events happening within four days.

Note: no one was specifically assigned to coordinate these events. This post has nothing to do with a blame game.

 For the second time in as many weeks I found myself in a situation in which I had agreed to help but not be the person where the buck stopped. In both cases there really wasn't anything else for it and so once I managed my frustration decided to apply a few of the things I preached about last week to see if it helped some of the unavoidable stress.

the first lesson

Accidents happen. If they do and one is put into a hard spot perfectionism is the first thing to cut loose. If saying no to doing something extra isn't an option, saying no to the extra stress that 24 unnecessary details create is the next best. So what if you don't take homemade granola bars on the last minute road trip? Sunbelt works.

Instead of perfect, go for enjoyable.

the second lesson

Write things down. Itinerary, to do, pertinent details. This way one can prioritize correctly and not waste action or worry. Creating a timeline is necessary, and thinking through what all will be needed for each segment will *hopefully* circumnavigate forgetting something major or turning an event into a complete disaster.

"Baby write things down, take a little note."

the third lesson

As lovely as it would be to be superhuman, each of us are one person. And if each of those one people pitches in the work suddenly becomes bearable. So this was my third and most beautiful lesson: ask and it will be given you. I could have cried in gratefulness as person after person said "I'll do it," and have done it.

"Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." **

Does this ever happen to you? If so (and here's the major one) how do you keep from feeling like the world just crashed on you? Because I have a pretty good suspicion that this happens to many adulty-adults.
